Arrival and Day 1

We are so proud of Year 6, they are loving every minute and have completed their team building exercises, caving and archery so far.

We arrived safely and started with a look at our pods, dropped our bags off, and thought about making our beds! Then there was a site tour and a game of ‘Fishy fishy’ (similar to the game bulldog but safe and fun).

At the start of the team building exercises the children were shouting over each other and nobody was sure what to do. By the end, they all took turns giving instructions, listened to each other and were so respectful. It was amazing! Pictures to follow, the internet is not brilliant here but we have all taken some amazing photos for you.

Group 1

Caving was exciting. The children donned their caving suits and helmets, went into the cave and and explored the cave climbing through holes and squeezing through gaps.

Archery was very fun, two children both got within the centre circle. The children all encouraged each other and gave it a go. Amazing!

Group 2

Canoeing was brilliant, we were given instructions and had a practise in the river before starting. Not everyone had done it before (including Mrs Taylor) and the first 15 minutes we spent going in circles stuck in the weeds.

Eventually we all got the hang of it and went down the river. On the way back we played canoe football where the children had to try and score points by throwing a ball into the instructors canoe.

Group 3

Our first activity was tree trekking. The children learnt how to put on a harness and Carabiner to then attach themselves safely. The children spent the hour climbing in and around the tree tops before eventually jumping off a platform to return to the forest floor.

We then moved onto a tree climbing activity which was more of a physical challenge where the children had to climb up the tree using hand and footholds. Everyone attempted this, two children even reached the top

Day 2

Yesterday was another glorious day in the forest. All of the children have been focusing on pushing themselves and developing their resilience in difficult situations. At the campfire last night, we thanked those who had helped us to overcome a challenging situation. It was lovely to hear the children thanking other members of their group. They have been brilliant cheerleaders for their classmates.

Group 1

Tree trekking was very daunting but exciting as even though we had a few wobbles, we were able to overcome our fears and complete the course with some help from our instructor Luke and Miss Prall who up there with us cheering us on. We then went straight to the zip wire where we felt more confident with the height and zipped down the wire; we really enjoyed this activity. We finished off with a lazy canoe down the river in the sunshine. This was followed by most of the group choosing to jump into the old river!

Group 2

We also enjoyed tree trekking which was very high and scary although we enjoyed jumping off the platform with the power fan. We also went caving which was very dark but fun. We then moved onto archery where some even managed to get a bullseye! Mountain biking was tiring and bumpy but very fun. We even explored riding into dips and bombs. It was a very pretty ride.

Group 3

We went caving which was very tight in spaces. We played sardines and other games in the caves as well. Even Mr Bassett made it through the tightest spaces. We they went to the archery range where we played another game aiming to hit the different areas to make a pizza. Before dinner we took part in a blindfolded walk where we had to go through obstacles guided by a rope. We also took part in the big swing where there were 2 platforms and you could even walk off backwards!

We are all tired and looking forward to coming home. We are leaving at 3pm so will be back just after 4pm
